Lisa King-Newton is originally from Lexington, Kentucky, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree at the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!) in Human Environmental Sciences. She has been in Southern California for about 25 years and spent much of that time as a veterinary technician. Around 2008 she changed gears and obtained a certification as a first responder, and it was during that pursuit she became attached to Addiction and Mental Health. She started looking into drug and alcohol courses and instantly realized this was her calling. She earned a degree in Alcohol and Other Drug Studies while obtaining supportive degrees in psychology and sociology. After completing four internships and passing the state board exam, she was then certified as an alcohol and drug counselor. She absolutely loves working in this field and is very excited about the future endeavors that await her.
