Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is another highly effective form of psychotherapy that focuses on the connection between the patient’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior. The emphasis of DBT is on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is different from CBT in that it is more focused on how the patient’s social interactions are affected by their mental health disorder and its effects. DBT is most commonly used in patients with Borderline Personality Disorder but is effective for other mental health disorders such as Bipolar Disorder.
